Zinnia elegans ‘Melon’ is a favorite new variety with large 4-6 inch double blooms covered in stacks of petals. Colors include casaba melon, light watermelon (like that spot where the rind transitions to the fruit) and cantaloupe, with subtle variations of each. The colors ombre to richer tones as they age and as the season lengthens.
The plants get to four feet tall and have sturdy stems that easily hold the heavy blooms without being too thick. These large blooms command attention and are easily used for gorgeous focal flowers, in large scale arrangements or as space-filling blooms in market bouquets.
